North Shore Medical Center Union Hospital

Description of resource: North Shore Medical Center Union Hospital is a 130 bed acute care hospital located in Lynn, MA. The Medical Center’s Pastoral Care Department is staffed by a full time interfaith chaplain who offers spiritual counseling to patients and family members at the end of life. Our chaplain serves as liaison to area clergy of a person’s own faith and on-call priests who offer sacramental care. The Medical Center has an Ethics Committee and offers a Palliative Care Consult service that addresses quality of life and pain management issues at end of life. North Shore Medical Center collaborates with the Hospice of the North Shore and offers social services and caregiver support groups.
